Based on what you have seen so far, and what you have learned about the different characters in the story, what guess could you make about what Michael's mission might be? RESPOND to the post once and REPLY to at least two classmates.
I guess Michael's ultimate mission is to make everyone around him laugh. That is because although Pansy died accidentally and Huey, Quinlin, and Dorothy were swayed by Michael, they all seemed to be happy. For instance, on the way to the world biggest twine ball, Michael said some jokes and enticed Huey's to play a bingo and they seemed to be cheerful.
I think that the mission of Michael is to make people happy, as Masaya say. All of his action seems to make people laugh; I think this is based on the purpose. Then I guess that the instruction of Michael which is to apologize or to sing is a necessary element to make people happy.
I think Michael's mission is to be with people that are alone and make them company until they die. He makes those people happy and at the end he decides if the soul will go to heaven or not.
I agree with you. I also think that Michael's mission is to accompany lonely people until s/he dies. Therefore, we can say that Michael accomplished his first mission because Pansy had died.
I think Michael's mission may be related with love because he sometimes mention about the importance of love. For example, on the way to go to see Twine, he said “you are going to learn to laugh.”. He also said “All you need is love” in the bar.
I believe that Michael's main duty is to bring joy and make relaxing the dominant in the atmosphere around people. For this and to guarantee it, he taught people how to smile and laugh and as far as people laughing they will always be happy.
