ReplyDeleteI thought it was interesting that STAGE MANAGER takes on a role in the play. He is a narrator and describes an outline and a setting of the play at the beginning. However, there are many proper nouns, so it is hard to distinguish and remember the characters. Also, I felt difficult to imagine how the actors move because this is the first time for me to read a script in English. I don't have a particular question, but I think I should read again and try to get used to the style as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteHi, Yoko. This is Yanyan. Could you tell me which page should we stop if you can see my comment. Thank you so much.
DeleteHi, Yanyan! I think we should stop at page 10.
DeleteYou're welcome :D

ReplyDeleteHi guys,
ReplyDeleteGood evening. This is Yanyan. After I read this story, I just found that Doc. Gibbs's family is familiar with my family. I found some new vocabularies, but I don't think they're difficult to understand. I think the interesting thing is when I read the story and I can imagine what do they do, but I don't think it is very easy. Another thing is that I found some abbreviations. I don't understand some of them. Please help me if you can understand. Such as: Nobody very remarkable ever come out of it, s'far as we know. (s'far) Somep'n went wrong with the separator.(somep'n)
New words for me:
1. declare - announce (synonym),
2. ought- should (synonym),
3. wink - an act of closing and opening one eye quickly, typically as a signal,
4. gingham - lightweight plain-woven cotton cloth, typically checked in white and a bold color,
5. slap - hit (someone or something) with the palm of one's hand or a flat object
Question: Should we stop at page 13 or ?
That's all. Thank you.^_^
Hi, this is Mone Ikeda. I thought that stage direction helped us imagine what happened. On the other hand, it was difficult for me to understand the location such as where Catholic Church was. I tried to draw the picture which was useful to grasp it, but I was confused on the way.
ReplyDeleteMone, I think so too!
DeleteDo you think there were some maps to show the audience?
I'm Tsubasa. Sorry I have a problem here.
DeleteHi, Yanyan. I think the teacher said we should stop reading at 10 page...but I did not have confidence...If someone knows it, please teach us!

ReplyDeleteHi, this is Kaho Ikegami. It was difficult for me to understand this story because this was the first time that I read a script. The most difficult thing for me was to image what the actors do. Also, there are many characters in this story, so I was confused. I think I should identify the character to read easily.
ReplyDeleteThis is Riku Sato. My impression of reading this script is as follows. First, words which are used in this script were unfamiliar to me. So it takes more time to understand the content of this script correctly than usual. Second, I thought that it is a difficult part of this script to imagine and express all the cityscapes and props. And as Yanyan says, I couldn't figure out the meaning of them: holla', y'know, s'far…

ReplyDeleteHi, This is Tsubasa Obata. I'm not good at reading, so sometimes could not catch the meaning of sentences and imagine situations. I would like to discuss about these contents in the class.
ReplyDelete1. When the stage manager was explaining the location, were there some maps or something like that? If there were no maps, I thought it was difficult for audience to understand the situation.
2. In seven page, middle of the passage, "s'far as we know." What does it mean?
Hello, This is Yanyan. I am just confused that should we post our questions everyday?
ReplyDeleteHi Yanyan, I'm Tsubasa
DeleteLet's ask professor about it today
