I agree with Meshari because the best form of acquire the knowledge is by reading books. Since the early days people have been reading books for learning about the life, and the literature books is a good opportunity to review about the life with metaphors.

The importance of learning English through literature can't be underestimated. English literature makes us more understandable to the English language. The most interesting thing for me while I learn English through American literature is to know more about Americans culture. English literature allows me to acquaint the differences and similarities in how others live compared to my culture.
In my view, in spite of the fact that most people believe that an literature isn't involve with progressing English skills, I think the literature is important in the learning of English. Because of reading the literature, you are able to build more vocabularies than you are predictable due to the fact that you remember the vocabularies and know how to use them unconsciously through seeing in the literature. Moreover, I also believe that the more I read the literature, the more I am able to understand the ideas of the native speaker when they talk to me because I know what is the topic that they would like to say with me in American culture. Besides, I understand more about their personalities which always have something similarly between people in the same culture.

Literature is important for learning English because we have the possibility to study the popular idioms, understand the American culture, and create new skills in our life. However, I think that people who read things our like, they can lead better knowledge because they are putting more interests in their lectures.
You would know natural English by reading literature, so there are lots of phrases or idioms in it. Then you could learn the usage of words as native English speakers use. In addition, literatuer brings learners new perspectives peculiarly in English. So it might be also effective to get a sence of the usage of English.
