What is the most important is get aware of the fact that someone trust me; people I trust make me strong enough to stick up for what I really believe in even if I am ignored or turned down over and over again. Moreover, they encourage me to open myself up to others. Once something has the scales fall from my eyes, I can broaden the range of ambitions sequently.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. There were a lot of student who felt lonely by not being trusted by other people in this book. They could get trust by Ms.G and became honest, and stronger.
DeleteMost important thing is changing something. For example, way of thinking, relationship between you and other people or social customs. Even if its change is too small at first, finally it must be bigger and affect the others. Changing something can also grow your confidence.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your opinion in most of the part. At first they change the attitude for Ms.G, and the writing assignment, "the Diary".
DeleteHowever, I am not sure, changing grow my confidence, or confidence makes changing. Which is first thing to appear in my mind.
The important idea is the "change". Making a decision is also included in the "change". Ms.G made students change their stances for others, and their fatalisms. She shows many examples: the people who changed their lives from their difficulties through reading books. It cause the students' change. They remove the wall between different races, and also they have hoops for future, I mean they have hoops to go to college. They know that it is only you who can change yourself.
ReplyDeleteTo Yuki, I'm for your idea. "Change" is one of the indispensable keywords. Ms. G's lesson led the student to another stage, which means they learn to grasp something new, such as opinions, cultures and their own future plans. However, she didn't impose her thoughts on them, but they made up their mind to change spontaneously.
DeleteYuki, I strongly agree with your opinion that the only one who can change you is yourself. I think how our life goes is depends on ourselves. If we want to change our life, we have to start action for future.
DeleteThe biggest idea I learned from this book is to have a hope. Ms.Gruwell had a hope that the student can change and the student became to have a hope for their future even if their lives were hardest ones. I want to have a hope as well if I face to something difficult.
ReplyDeleteI also realized the importance of having a hope though reading this book. They were in difficult situations which make them feel that no matter how they struggle, there are no ways to change their situation. However, they started to change because the books gave them hopes. When people start having a strong hope, nothing can stop them.
DeleteThe main message i caught from this book is that everything is possible. Even if there are few possibilities of success and people is against you, with passion and work you can reach every goal.
ReplyDeleteI strongly agree with your opinion. I also think that this book tells us that how difficult it is, we can do that. Human beings have a great deal of possibility to do something, like" The sky is the limit."
DeleteWhen I first started reading this book, I thought this book is only about race discrimination. However, this book actually has a lot of messages. One of the most important messages is that just a book can change many people. Of course, there are many other ways to change people. However, I think reading good books is the best way to approach people’s minds. Only a book can change people’s life. I hope I can also encounter a book which change my life in a good way.
ReplyDeleteThrough reading this book, I can understand how important someone can relate oneself to others. For example, when students read Anne's Diary, almost all of them could relate themselves to her. In other words, they could know that others also suffer from something.By knowing it, they stopped to be against each other, they wanted to communicate with each other. I think it is very meaningful change for them. They also could feel as if they have the same experience as Anne's. Probably, it motivated them so strongly that they took action. At the same time, they could understand importance of reading book or writing whatever they want to write.
