Referring to the dilemma that Turing and his team faced after they had broken the German code, would you sacrifice the lives of 500 people, including people you know and love, to save the lives of millions more? POST your answer and then REPLY to at least two of your classmates.

If I am a member of Turing team, I chose the way to sacrifice the lies of 500 people even if they include my friends and families. Of course, I want to protect my friends if I could, but I think we cannot decide the plan personally during the war.It is important to save a lot of lives to win the war and finish it soon. I pray that war never happens again.
ReplyDeleteHi, Akana. I agree with you that war never happens again. If it really happen, I think I will doing same thing with you, because your idea is more rational.
DeleteHi, Akane! I wish the war never happens again too and I also think we can't make our personla choice during the war so I agree with your opinion. I'd be really sad about losing my family and friends but if that's the only way to save more people and end the war fastest then we might have to chose the way.
DeleteHi, Akane, I think you are right, but I think another option that can we choose the middle of the option, if we can save the people and deal with the war, it is good.
DeleteIf I am in Turing team, I chose save people, any time when we broke the German code. Because German can change their code, we also can broke it. I prefer to save everyone, and believe my team than can broke German code.
ReplyDeleteHi, Haoqing. I disagree with your opinion. Turing team members took the hard way to break German code; in other words, it is difficult to break it. Once they change the code, we should take a lot time to break it again. Perhaps, my country's people will die during this time. I think if we chose this way, victims of war will increase. We should avoid this situation.
DeleteHi Haoqing, I also agree with your opinion. Because there have different ways to solve the problem. But I think what you talk about have the higher risk, the reason is you don't know what they will do for the next attack, the enemy will let you know or not. We all don't know about that, if they just attack that just they don't let you know and don't have the code. This will be more terrible.
DeleteHi Haoqing, I can understand your opinion. I hope to save everyone too. However, Turing and his team took a lot of time to break the code. It means a lot of people were killed during they try to break the code. Therefore, we should chose the most rational way to avoid terrible result .
DeleteI think this argue connects to the one we had last week. Can you be logical when you think? If I were in Turing’s team, I’d scarify 500 peoples’ lives instead of millions more. I’d definitely be sad and mad about losing my family and friends and I’d try to think emotionally at first. However, if scarifying them is a logical thing to do then I’d do that for end the war and also for the team. but still I'd be really really sad.
ReplyDeleteHi Momoka. I agree with your opinion. The decision will make me sad and mad, but it is neccesary. For me, logical thinking is the best way to reduce people who will be sad. Sometimes we have to have the heart of robot.
DeleteHi Momo, I agree with your opinion. For the people that not a scientists or people help to stop the war, they might will more care about the people who they know and love. But for the army or scientists, they want to win the war. This not mean they don't care about their family or friends, they just don't want to let more people die in the war and win the war forever.
DeleteHi, momo, I agree with you. It's a logical problem. Maybe when we are in the war, we only can save our life first. We cannot think more.
DeleteI would sacrifice the lives of 500 people if I am a member of Turing team. Because sacrifice is unavoidable thing in a war. A country which has the smallest victim will usually win. If our country lose the war, we will lose million more lives and make a lot of sad. When we get something important, we also should sacrifice something important too.
ReplyDeleteHi, Yuma. I agree with your opinion. Sadly, we cannot avoid to birth sacrifices during the war. So I also chose the way to be minimum victims to finish the war soon. I feel the judgement during war is difficult for everyone because we cannot think personally. We have to chose the sad way to income for the country. That is why people become evils during the war.
DeleteFor me, I think I will sacrifice the lives of 500 people which including people I know and love. Of course everyone want to protect their family or friends. But in the time which is in the war, if you not going to do that, you might can protect them once. How can you protect them for the next time? When you broken the German code to protect one place of the people that you will not know where they will attack next time. Because of the know you broke their code, this might lead to your hole country has destroy.
ReplyDeleteHi, Patrick! I really agree with your idea and as you said, even if we can protect the people I know and love, we're not sure if we can do the same for them next time. And also, one person's ulogical decision can break the team's bond or in this case, make the war worse and again, as you mentined in your post, we would be in a danger of getting attack on our own country.
DeleteI think I will choose to give up these people, because we can save our power in the next battle and we can use the skill in the most important war.
